CREATIVE CLASS Surf's Up/ NEW Catalogs & Cricut Cart.

August Creative Class = Surf's Up

Not that you need to be a surfer to use these beautiful layouts and cards.  I am excited to offer these 4 great pages and cards for only $21.  If you are only doing pages the cost comes to $20.  We displayed these pages at expo and other events and it is fun to watch people stop in their tracks to see these layouts and tell us that they love the colors, etc. etc.  I know August is a crazy busy time, so if the class schedule just won't work for you and you want to do these layouts, let me know and I can do a kit for you and you can pre-pay for it and come do it another time.   Also don't forget the option to have a kit mailed to you for only $6 more.

Class Schedule for August::
Tuesday evening August 13th at 6:00 at my home in Orem
Thursday afternoon August 15th at 12:30  at my home in Orem  (no evening class...a wedding to go to)
Wednesday evening August 20th at 5:30 at Mapleton

Don't forget if you don't scrapbook, you can do 2 sets of the cards for only $10.  Great to give a set away as a gift and use the others.

**Make sure to double check the PayPal cart for correct item and quantity upon check out.

I have new catalogs available and ready to give to my class attendees.  In addition to the catalog there will be a special Christmas Supplement to order from that will be available in the fall.  There is a new cricut cartridge and if you want to get in on the group order so that you get a discount and a free paper pack just let me know.  I have to put you into groups to take advantage of the hostess rewards and it is a great deal.  So call me or e-mail me soon.  Again, this cartridge is packed and has a great variety and so many options.  The 3 stamp sets that come with it are my favorite.

They just keep giving us more and we love it! We will do some of these cricut specials in August because the stamp of the month is FREEEEEE this month with a $50 order, so that sweetens the chocolate pot.  Here is a flyer showing the Stamp of the month for August.  I think we can all relate to this one for some reason.

There is nothing like the bright yellow sunshine of summer...until you add in the other two primary colors of red and blue...this great combination makes for lots of summer paper fun this month.  The pages and cards we are doing in July feature the Tommy paper pack and there are so many creative options.  (There is one design of the patterned paper that has a more nautical feel with anchors, etc.  If you aren't into that, you can use the opposite side which is a blue and gold diagonal stripe..)  Many people have used this paper selection for patriotic and fathers day.  With the desert sand cardstock as a base on the pages you really can do pretty much any beach scene with these layouts.  (save some of your photos for the surf's up layouts in August though...I love those pages... pictured below.)
The canvas shapes are a great accent to these Tommy pages.

Tommy layouts and cards

For our Creative Class schedule I am pushing things to the end of the month because of holidays, etc.  So this is the plan:
Thursday, July 25 I will do 2 classes....12:30 and again at 6:30 at my home in Orem
Tuesday, July 30 I will start at 5:30  (at this time it looks like we might be doing this class in
Mapleton...will have to update this as it gets closer)

Cost:  $21 if you do the 4 pages and 4 cards   OR   $20 if you choose only to do the pages (no cards)

Because I have July and August classes pretty close together, I am posting the pictures for both classes.  So here are the August Surf's Up layout and cards.  Same cost.

Surf's Up August layouts and cards

July also marks the end of the spring catalog.  I will be getting the new catalogs soon and I am so excited to work with the new paper, etc. for our classes in the fall.  Design time already.  Can't wait.

April is here and this is the creative class for April.  It was fun to work with this paper and then I started seeing cute clothes in the mall on display that would match perfectly.  So get your pink on and join the April Creative class coming up sooooo soon. These pages are great for Easter or Spring rain storms, etc. And the cost is only $21 for the pages and cards pictured.  If you don't live near me and want me to mail you a kit, just let me know (extra shipping cost will apply).

CLASSES:   I am actually taking advantage of the time off work for spring break and doing the first class during the day on Thursday April 4th at 12:30.  Next session:  April 9th ... show up anytime between 5 and 7 and get started.  Then if anyone needs a Thursday evening I am keeping April 11th open if anyone wants to come that evening.  For the card maker/non-scrapbookers, we will be using my extra kits from my expo class...

We had a good time doing our expo booth.  We were happy to have so many people sign up and attend our card classes and do our CUTE make and take bunnies.. We were happy that we sold 38 out of the 40 cricut cartridges we bought to sell there.  I am so glad I work with such great people and meet so many people that love the same thing that I love.  There won't be as fall expo due to lack of big vendors and less people attend that expo.  Sort of sad. But seeing so many people scrapbooking gives me lots of hope for our fun hobby.  There were lots of people working away all day and into the night.  We will be helping with a CTMH scrapbooking retreat in the fall, so tune in later for more info on that event.

Buzz and Bumble is the paper pack for March.  It has great earthy colors and Diana added some blue to help your photos pop.  Perfect for either masculine or feminine and lots of great details that won't show up much on the photo, but you will love in real life.  So here is the photo...

I love the fun honey comb stamps on this one.

If you want to do these pages and/or cards let me know.  I am working to cut paper for my expo class, so it isn't too late to join the fun for March.  Cost is $20 (this includes the tax and shipping)  Also if you do the pages and cards, the cost may be $1 more to cover the card bases.  If you can't attend, but want to do these pages, I can cut and assemble your kit and send it to you with an additional shipping cost of about $6.

For the card makers...the cards will be very similar, but I usually change up a few things and the cost is only $10 for 8 cards.

I am considering doing a Friday night scrapbooking get together at least every other month in addition to my usual creative classes.  I have room for 8 (4 per table) and I thought it would be fun to have an evening to get pictures on pages.  No projects from me, just time and space together to create.  So let me know if you are interested in attending something like this here in the Orem area.  I miss my old page exchange group....

Here is the schedule for March:
Tuesday, March 12       start time anywhere between 5:00 and 7:00
Thursday, March 14      start time anywhere between 3:30 and 7:00   (not 12:30 this time)
NO SATURDAY AVAILABLE this month.  Expo, baseball, etc....

Do you have a group of friends who would like to do my creative classes, but these times and place don't work.  Let's talk and figure a time and place for me to come to your group.

STUDIO J.  I am happy to help you get going with Studio J digital scrapbooking.  I have a non-scrapbooking friend that is doing a memory album for her son's mission and is doing the whole thing with Studio J.  I did a telephone tutorial with her and she is making great progress to finish the whole album in a month (to get the special discount $5/layout until March 15.)  We talked on the phone and I walked her through the entire process with me at my computer and her at hers.  It is a great program with lots of great features, that you could easily figure out on your own.  However there are a few helps that I can give to make things go smoothly and quickly...and I really like helping.  So if you would like your own telephone tutorial, I am here for you.

One thing I love about Studio J is that you can continue with your regular scrapbooking style and add pages throughout your book that are done with Studio J.  They come back looking like regular scrapbook pages, except flat and you can put them right in your albums.  I am currently working on a tribute album for my mother in law and her friends and family members from all over the country are uploading their photos onto my site.  Then all I have to do is make the pages and add their sweet comments about her. I can tell the book is going to be a treasure.  A few people are sending their tributes and photos via snail mail and I will make their pages in the traditional way and they will fit right in with the Studio J digital pages.

Clementine is the paper pack for February Creative Classes.  It is the last of the fall catalog paper and then we are on to the next round of paper found in the new catalog.  I am excited because I got to design our pages for the beautiful Chantilly paper kit for our team.  Anyway, I have had a creative rush of pinks and yellow and blue.  Next I started working on the Later Sk8ter pack which provided another batch of color to start swimming in my head.  Love that feeling of having something come together creatively.  It is very helpful that CTMH comes out with a great pallet of paper and accessories for us to start with.

Anyway, back to Clementine.  If you got my newsletter (out on February 1) you saw one of the layouts.  Now look at the photo here and see if you can see a difference...besides the fact that Jen took the photo of this one and she is an incredible photographer with a great camera....

So yeah...you can totally switch the pages around if you want to.  It also looks pretty cool with the first page rotated so the flowers are on the top left hand corner.  Lots of options.  Just another beauty of CTMH layouts, which is a pretty fun function to play with on the Studio J scrapbooking site.  Have you tried Studio J yet????  You need to if not, and February the cost is only $5 per layout. (Less than Costco and anywhere else.) I will be doing a bunch of Studio J layouts this month.  Simply log in to my web page at marybeth.ctmh.com.  Just do it!  I think it is SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!  Here is a copy of my Christmas Card I did using Studio J.  I designed it in about 1 hour, bought the j.peg for only $2.95 and took a copy on a thumb drive to our local grocery store photo center and the gal behind the counter put it onto an 8x4 card in about 4 minutes.  Sweet!

It does seem a little weird not to be making a bunch of valentines this February.  I used to make up to 100 for all my kids classmates and now they don't need any.  What?  I will still make some for the students in the classroom that I work in and that will be fun.  But it is a change in my life.  Speaking of Valentines, the 2nd Thursday of the month when I usually do class is the 14th...and there are a lot of other options for people that day, so the schedule for the Clementine Classes for February are a bit different than usual.****

*****Thursday February 7th at 12:30 or again in the evening at 6-ish ****
Tuesday, February 12th at 6-ish (earlier or later is fine...everyone is together in the middle)
Saturday, February 9th or 23rd are both available if you want a Saturday morning slot...just let me know.

Cost is $19.50 for these pages and cards  (I will be hiking prices all the way up to $20 from here on out... tired of always needing change and don't worry, you will get some extra sparkles, or paper or something for the extra .50)

Cost for the card workshop is only $10.  The design is very similar to the ones in the picture...but we will be using the cottage flowers accessories instead.  They are just so cute.  You will make 2 of each design for a total of 8 cards.   Oh and one of my customers slipped and told me that at Archiver's their classes are $25.  But don't worry, I am not changing my prices for these classes.  $10 is a nice even number and I am sticking to it...for now.

Remember that if you want to do my projects but don't live nearby.  I am happy to ship thing to you so you can do it on your own.  Not as much fun and a bit more $ for shipping, but you do get some great pages done.

Thursday, December 27, 2012

I had a lot of fun creating Christmas presents using the Display Tray (Z1750 $19.95) for my husbands parents.  I used the Florentine paper which is only available another month.  I didn't get a picture of the other one and they aren't exactly the same, but I thought they turned out pretty nice.
January Creative Classes are coming up soon.  I am excited to offer two kits this month.  Both the beautiful La Belle Vie (pink and bamboo and black) and Avonlea (Teal and chocolate) scrapbook page kits will be available to order.  The cost for the Avonlea (including tax and shipping) comes to $19.50 and the cost for the La Belle Vie comes to $20.00.  Both come together beautifully and easily and sign up for either is now.  Some people are doing both layouts.  I can also ship them to you.
There are a few dates for you to choose to come participate in the Orem class:
Tuesday, January 8th (start anytime between 5:30-7)
Thursday, January 10th 12:30 and again at 7:00
Saturday, January 12 10:00
For those of you that don't scrapbook and want to do only cards.  We will be doing cards using the Avonlea paper.  This is my favorite paper pack in the current catalog and the combination of papers is beautiful.  The cards will have a winter theme with a few snowmen and snowflakes.  Cost for 8 cards will be close to $10.

Also, if you missed out on the wedding cards using the La Belle Vie paper and would rather make those cards, I have a few kits left.  The cards are so beautiful.  You could use a different message to make them for birthday or other occasions besides wedding.  Scroll down to see the pictures of these cards.

Christmas is coming... and I am oh so excited to do these layouts with you.  Cost is the same as usual: $19.50 with the tax and shipping already added in.  The 5 bonus cards are easy to put together and are just in time for the holidays.  We will be meeting on December 11, Tuesday evening or December 13 afternoon or evening.  Also available time slot is Saturday morning on the 15th.  I know December can be busy, so if you would like a pre-cut/stamped kit... that will be no problem.  There will be extra shipping to get it to you or you can pick it up in Orem. Sign up soon.

Also available for the cardmakers.... the Christmas Card Workshop if you missed it in November... only $10 for 8 cards... 2 of each of the following designs.

We will also be doing  a Wedding Card Workshop which will cost $10.50...  2 of each design except triple of the little heart tags with matching envelopes.  Same times and places, just different projects.  The  card workshops were adapted from our swap...so thanks ladies!!!!!

November is fast approaching and I wanted you to see the kits so you can sign up soon for our classes.   We are having the option of doing two kits this month.  You can do both or choose one or the other.  Here are the pictures of the Flirty pages.  Wish my pictures were a bit better.  The colors are just not as great in the picture as in real life.

And here are pictures of the Dakota Layouts.  Sweet huh?  ...........

For the Card workshop in November we will be making Christmas Cards.

We will be meeting November 8th at 12:30 or at 7:00.  or November 13 at 5:30 or Saturday November 17 at 10:30.  One other option is to attend a class in Idaho Falls on November 10.

The cost for the each of the layout kits come to $19.50 with the tax and shipping added in.  So to do both Dakota and Flirty it would be $39.00.   In December we will do the Pear and Partridge Christmas layouts.

So sign up soon!

AHHHH....September.....Summer is winding down....fall, holidays, snow, so many things to look forward to that are coming up soon.  I am amazed to see beautiful fall colors on the mountains already!  As we head indoors it is a great time for scrapbooking and projects.  A good time to make Christmas cards before the holiday rush.  It is Expo month for us and we are excited for that....coming up during the last weekend in September.  We have a discount code to save you a bit getting in. It is CLOSE2.  It helps out with our costs so we would love to have you use it!!!!

Now is the time to sign up for September's Creative Class and we are using  the Scholastic CTMH paper kit.  It is rich and great for masculine pages but could work for girls too, you may want to use it for school, but it is not necessarily limited to school...  Would be great for any "super amazing" event or any time there is a story to be told.  I have a lot of pictures of my kids reading that would work well or pictures of the spelling bee or graduation.  How about a blue ribbon event at the fair. There is a cute library card pocket on the first layout...  photos of a trip to the library would be a good thing to capture.  Talent show...hmmmm...So many fun options.

Class times are during the 2nd week in September so sign up soon...........

September 11, 2012 Tuesday evening:  Come start anytime between 5:30 and 7:00.
September 13, 2012 Thursday evening:  Come start anytime between 5:30 and 7:00
September 15, 2012 Saturday morning:  Start time:  10:00

Option 1:  We will be making the two pictures layouts with cards ready to assemble.  Cost including tax and shipping =  $19.50.  The gold antiqued mini medleys really add to the rich quality and you will have a few extras for other projects or for the cards.

Option 2:  We will be making 8 cards.  2 each of 4 designs.  I will have a photo up very soon.... and pricing should be close to $10.  Same time and place.

October projects will be posted early, so check in again soon.  I will be offering a very cute home decor item for the Halloween festivities.  Can't wait to show you!  Plus I am planning on a Christmas card workshop using our beautiful Pear & Partridge paper pack.  LOVE IT!  So mark your calendar for the 2nd week in October too.

August is Here!  Footloose creative classes next week!!!!!!!!  3 things to check out in this post:
           1.  Footloose Creative Scrapbook Classes,
2.  Card workshop,
 3.  Cricut Special.

1.  Footloose Creative Scrapbook Class:
Here are the Footloose layouts and cards that go with the layouts....

Cards you can make with the extra paper from the pages.

We will be meeting on August 7th between 5:30 and 10:00 in the evening.  The next class is on Thursday, August 9th  at 12:00 noon.  then on Saturday, August 11th,  we will be meeting at 10:00 in the morning.  If you are interested in signing up, please e-mail me or call as soon as possible.  We have limited number of the wooden shapes available, so let me know now if you would like to participate.  The cost comes to $19.50 with the tax and shipping added in....that includes all the paper and wooden shapes.  There are about 30 + cricut cuts...but I do those and all the cutting for you, so all you have to do is bring your own adhesive and assemble these beauties.  Add your pictures and bring back next time for a fun prize from the product bin.  Sweet!  Loved the layouts the ladies completed with the Pemberley paper!  So fun to see their creativity used in finishing their layouts.

My team and I are working on our new layouts for the new catalog, so stay tuned for September's projects...hopefully to be posted before you get your newsletters!  If you don't do layouts and want to do only cards...that is no problem....

2.  Here is the info on the CARD CLASS:  You will make 8 beautiful cards that include a pack of the wooden sea shapes.  The cost is a little more at $11 because of those cute accessories.  So excited to be offering the cards for you that don't scrapbook.  You can choose any of the times that are mentioned above to come put together your cards.  I still have a table to fill with people.

3.  CRICUT SPECIAL:  So, if you don't have Close to my Heart's Art Philosophy cricut cartridge, you still can get it as part of this deal, or you can get the new Artiste cricut cartridge.  They are both the same great deal: Loaded with images to cut (the equivalent of 3 other cartridges), complete with 3 D-size stamp sets, plus 3 fun chip board cut outs that coordinate with the stamps and cuts you can make.  All this for $99 + 6.78 tax + 7.87 shipping = $113.65 is the cost to you....A great deal as is....but ordering in August and combining orders for group buying power makes the deal even sweeter for you.  (I can combine orders like this any time...there is just a great special that goes with it in August and September.)

Here is how it works....I will group people buying the cartridges in to groups of 4 and put it together as a party.  We will split the hostess rewards evenly, so that the cost of the cartridge only comes to $99 each (including tax and shipping) thus saving all four of you $13.65.  Then to further make this deal sweet, you get to choose $10 in free product...that could be....  a pack of paper, a B-size stamp set, or 2 stamp pads, etc.  Because you are doing an order over $35 (Aug/Sept. Special)  you have the option to get a Double D-size stamp set for only $5 + tax and shipping.  How sweet is that?  So let me know soon so we can start getting things ordered for you cricut lovers.

CTMH really does have the best cricut cartridges.  You can see what the images look like on each cartridge if you go to cricut.com and go to cricut craftroom.  I would be happy to show you how to use your cricut some time if you haven't gotten things figured out yet.  http://cms.closetomyheart.com/~/media/ImageGallery/Time%20Sensitive/Medium/2012_September_CC/SeptemberCC-ImageGallery.ashx?w=400Here is the Aug. Sept. Special Stamp Set.

Monday, July 2, 2012

Happy Summer everyone.  Can't believe the first month is over and July is next.  It was a good month and I had a great time at girls camp.  I will be scheduling things a little differently for the Creative Classes for this month.  July 26th will be workshop day and that is when you can come and make the SuperHero pages and cards.  Another option is to come and do the beautiful Pemberley Card kit (10 cards for $10.44)  Choose a time that is good for you and come at your convenience.  There are some gals coming at 12:30 and early evening is another spot.  Just let me know.  I know some people have labeled these kids pages, but the super hero page has the message from the July stamp of the month "Imagine the Possiblities". (restamped the message using the archival black ink and it pops much better now...why didn't I use that ink before now...so cool!!!) Anyway, that message can apply to any hero in your life or person with potential to become someone's hero.  The second layout is perfect for July...Red, White and Blue with stars.  You can do the message "Live out Loud" from the Stamp of the month set, or 4th of July.  We added a small white star layer to brighten it up a bit. Those black photo mats will really make the photos pop!  We also reworked the cards to be less super-hero ish and more versatile too.  I am excited to add my son's photos to the first layout.  He and his friend wore the red capes and whitey-tighties over their shorts pretending to be Captain Underpants.  Perfect for a 5 year old.  Just glad I got photos, because my boys never wear capes around the house anymore....

So come on July 26th for a few hours of creative fun.  Any time (ok, within reason)
Cost of this kit:  $17 for supplies and it comes to $19.51 with the tax and shipping added in.  Sweet.
You will have some of the cool comic paper left for your own future projects.

If you haven't done any of the creative classes, remember you can join in any time.
Also, just have to note that Jen Mahan is the photographer for our team and WOW is she great!!!

Thursday, May 31, 2012

June is here and that is fun for me..... because that means it is summer vacation and I don't work at the school in the summertime.  So I should have more time to have fun doing Studio J layouts and creating in my basement happy place.  Between girls camp and Hill Cumorah, it will fly by so so quickly.  I already feel cheated a bit because  I have lots of projects I want to do and afraid I don't have enough time.  But, it will be fun!!!!

The nice thing about the summer break is that I can do some of my creative classes during the day.  Don't forget to get photos on your pages and bring them back next time you come for free product.

Here is June's schedule for the ever popular Pemberley paper:
Tuesday, June 12 at 7:00 in the evening
Thursday, June 14 at 12:00 noon or at 7:00 in the evening
Saturday, June 16 at 10:00 in the morning

Here is the Pemberly Kit cost breakdown:
  • X7148B  Pemberley Paper Pack,   pg. 22                                      $9.95
  • Extra Cardstock/B&T (1.5 sheets) Honey & Vanilla Cream            $1.50
  • Z1487  Pewter Mini Medley Accessories, pg. 127                         $4.95
  • Z1732  36"Color-Ready Seam Binding Ribbon,  pg. 124               $0.80
  • Z1104  4 Clear Sparkles  pg. 126                                              ___n/c___
  • Subtotal                                                                                        $17.00
  • GRAND TOTAL ADDING IN Tax $1.16 + Shipping $1.35       $19.51

For July, you can come anytime on the 26th and that is the only day I will be doing workshops.  The super hero kit is so fun, you won't want to miss out.  Then in August we will feature fantastic Footloose which was our biggest jaw-dropper at Expo...Everyone LOVED this kit and these pages!!!!!!!!!

Definitely sign up soon for classes.  I know how crazy summer can be, so if none of these times work out, consider getting the kit and assembling at home on your own.  I can have things pre-cut (as I do for everyone) and pre-stamped ready to go. You can look at the photos on my blog to compete your pages and cards beautifully.

CARD OPTION:  I have been figuring out what will work out for my friends who like to do cards and not scrapbook pages and I think this option will work well.  You will do the pictured cards but instead of one of each of the cards you will do duplicates...2 of each card.  So you will come and prep for all  cards and assemble the other set to finish at home.  If you have time to finish at my home in the 2 hours, great, if not you will have everything you need to get them done at home.  If you get all cards finished by next month you can get in on the same reward option like the scrapbookers have by putting photos on their pages.  You will be able to order 1/2 pack of paper, the ribbon and 1/2 package of accessories.  The cost with tax and ship is $10.44.
